Hands Better Too Low than Too High

Picture yourself trying to pick up something heavy and most certainly you will have more strength and power with your arms close to your body.

If you were to arm wrestle you would have the most leverage with your elbows close to your side.

What we do prior to the swing can either make or break the shape of our back swing. High hands generally produce a flatter (more like a merry-go-round) shape to the swing.

The Solution
Low hands will be more likely to produce a swing that is "on plane" (more like a ferris wheel.) Your wrists are designed to cock (like a hammer) and when hands are low your wrists are already in their natural cocking position which will happen later in the backswing.

Remember -- the swing is a sequence of movements. So anything we can do PRIOR to the swing can help us produce the best possible motion.
